An expansion is easier to assess when the first site is operating. Polar Data Centers and Crusoe said on October 21 that DRA01 in Tørdal, Norway, was live with 12MW of IT capacity, while their partnership was expanding into a new 40MW development at DRA02.

Current impact

The announcement identifies hydroelectric power, modular infrastructure and cooling designed for dense GPU systems. Those attributes explain the intended operating model, but the planned 40MW must remain separate from the live 12MW. Neither number alone measures how much customer computing is being delivered at a given moment.

Potential greater impact

The current impact is an operating European location for Crusoe Cloud and a reference for a larger development. If Polar can repeat commissioning and service performance, the expansion could diversify where customers source AI infrastructure. That requires network connectivity and dependable operation as well as an energy source.

What would establish progress

Watch construction, energization and customer availability at DRA02, alongside measured availability at DRA01. A repeatable operating record would support the expansion thesis more strongly than a larger capacity announcement. Hydroelectric supply does not eliminate the need to verify the full facility and service boundary.
